Bring your self to mind
Come and explore the frontiers of consciousness with philosopher Jakob Hohwy, percussionist Maria Moles, and Tibetan composer/performer Tenzin Choegyal
‘Know thyself’ is the original philosophical injunction, but what does that mean? We all experience the world through the lens of our own perceptions, values and beliefs – in short, through our consciousness. How can we go about understanding what consciousness is? And how might we change our minds through practices of reflection and contemplation, bringing more peace and attentiveness into our lives? We’ll explore these questions through conversation, music, and tasters of contemplative practice, in a richly experiential evening of Live Philosophy.
Jakob Hohwy
Speaker

As Director of the Monash Centre for Consciousness and Contemplative Studies and founder of the Cognition & Philosophy Lab at Monash University, Jakob Hohwy encounters the intersections between philosophy, psychology and neuroscience in his multidisciplinary work. His book The Predictive Mind (2013) pioneered a philosophical study of a new scientific theory of the mind, and his experimental research seeks to make contemplative practices central to our conscious connection with one another and the world around us.
